The R2 Space
Rele Arts Foundation Residency
The R2 Space
The Rele Arts Foundation is pleased to introduce The R2 Space, a visual arts residency programme for mid-career ( ages 35 and upwards) African and diaspora artists. The residency will be open to artists of various disciplines and backgrounds as well as to curators, art writers and researchers.
Every year from January to December, our call for applications will be open and candidates can apply for a residency period between one to three months. The residency will be focused on providing an environment that supports the production of independent creative and research projects from conception to presentation across diverse artistic disciplines. Selected participants will have demonstrated a critical and rigorous approach to artistic practice and research, the relevance of their proposed project to contemporary art discourse, and a committed and engaged attitude to their practice. Participants of the R2 Space residency will benefit from a provision of space and funding during the period of residence to help develop and materialise their ideas as well as the option to present their project in the gallery space. The Foundation encourages applications that focus on a critical engagement with the city of Lagos but we are also open to other explorations and areas of research.
Facts
The Residency lasts for a period between one to three months depending on the participant’s requirements and available slots. Upon successful acceptance into the programme, the exact starting date of your residency will be determined
